Line Lock- Quality?

-
It looks like my Hurst, in fact everything in the kit was in the Hurst kit. Cant comment on the quality of the one in the link but my Hurst has been flawless for close to 15 years.

Try it. Since 1975 only had 1 solenoid go bad and that was a Hurst back in the eighties. Went down to the parts store and bought a solenoid to replace it. No big deal. We use them on the street and track.

The summit brand ones look like that too and they are complete junk. I have changed several of them out and used the jegs branded ones which have been flawless for us.

Tell you what..........way back in the 70's I've seen a number of Hurst brand linelocks go bad. One went bad in my friend's 65 Chevelle around ??69. He was the original owner of what was later my 70 440-6. The one he installed in that car went bad on me when I had it. I had one in my beat up 62 Landcruiser (360/340. later 328) and another friend of mine had one go bad. I was not impressed with Hurst Line Lock

Lol. I figured I'd get all types of responses. It's hard to tell what is junk these days.

I had a Hurst in the 80's that never worked when I installed it. I mostly street drove the car and never worried about it. About a year later, I was just fiddling with the button at a light and I heard it click. It was still working when I sold the car. :wtf:

The one that's in my Mustang, I found it in my stuff. Been working for 8-9 years. I have no idea what brand it is.

These days it's hard to tell if somethng made in the U.S. is good, or if Chinese Chollies version of something is junk or good. I used to always do my best to buy American. For several years now, that's hard to do.

I ordered it. I'll takes me chances. This is not a serious track car. If it were, I'd be more concerned about quality. You know stuff only breaks before a final round.

We’ve had a Biondo on out Duster since the early 90’s.

Got two of them in Dusters......one is a couple of years old....other only one season...

Summit ones i returned two of them that was DOA

Just got it. Looks like I might be in trouble. lol

As said earlier, looks like a knock off of a Hurst. That being said I've had 3 of the Hurst units go toes up in 20 years.

Mine summit one stuck on during a burnout, finally released after fiddling with the button for about 30 seconds. Put a Jegs one in and no problems since.

To follow up on this, I just got the car drivable a couple weeks ago. Solenoid clicks, but it doesn’t do anything. Like a lot of Chinese stuff. It’s a crapshoot. Sometimes you get good service, sometimes you get some service, and other times you get no service.
I’ll probably take it apart and see if there’s anything that I can fix.

Sometimes it doesn’t pay to cheap out on things, especially electronics. I was just reading a post on Facebook on how many Speedmaster and other cheapie brands of electric water pumps they went through.

i put hurst line lock in my dart back in 1969, removed it in 1976, installed in my duster in 1976, been using it ever since, car has over 4000 runs on it, with stick shift ,

They don’t make em like they use ta. I can only imagine that they aren’t the same any more. I should’ve kept one of my old ones. They probably are still working.

Well based upon the responses above, it seems like it's been a crap from their inception. Never remember reading about Sox or his peers ever mentioning a failed line loc, I want one those.

I haven’t used one for years. Just put my foot on the brake, spin the motor up real quick, and drive out after I get smoke.
Just something to go bad
