while at the track today I got a message from a buddy of mine that won Drag Week a few years ago in a Chevy powered mustang with a Sledgehammer plate on it. He’s one of the reasons I bought that system as he said between Steve at Induction Solutions and himself they would help shorten my learning curve. Well he sold that car two years ago and can’t get parts fast enough to finish his turbo build. Well a 408 powered Duster that runs high 11’s came up for sale locally and he wanted to know if I could get him in the 10’s NA and how much to port the heads and Super Victor. I suggested he upgrade to a 2.05 intake. He is willing to buy those so I told him 700.00 for me to port the heads and intake (80.00-100.00 going locally for valve job). We should know if he’s getting the car by Tuesday. I will also help combo out the parts needed. Should be fun. He then plans to sell the car.

any updates ?

No I spent most of the day unloading the race car then a great friend of mine I raced with for 40 years had a 60th Birthday party. I was designated driver so my son could party. 160 plus mile round trip. Last I heard he was going to see the car on Tuesday. I actually have a set of ported 2.05 valve Edelbrock heads sitting on a shelf that we could probably exchange plus cash.

Well I texted him this evening to see what’s up and he said either the guy is very busy ( he is opening up a sandwich shop in Pittsburgh) or he’s having second thoughts. 5pm tomorrow we find out for sure as that’s my buddies deadline. All he found out he thinks for sure is the 408 had a hydraulic roller, unported Edelbrock heads, stock super Victor, 4.56 geared 8 3/4. He runs a chassis shop and is one heck of a welder so he has that handled. Makes headers too if need be. His engine builder told him to give him three weeks on the short block.

Ohhhhh well the deal feel through. He went to look at the car today and when he popped the truck the wheel wells were GONE. I mean cut off flush with the body gone. No lip no nothing. I told him I would keep my eyes open for any Mopar, Chevy, or Ford.

Well I see they canceled out for this year anyway. He saved money not buying a car that needed a lot of work and I saved the time of helping out. He now has time to do his car for next year.

 more time to plan

No not for me. This one rolled around out of the blue and it really shocked me that he would do it with a Mopar. They usually play in one of the fastest classes and he will be there with his (I think) turbo build. He and his buddy can build some top notch stuff. My end was easy in this deal. Supply him with a set of small block heads capable of at least 10.50 and his nitrous tune would have done the rest.

If he was good for 10.50 n/a, how much was his nitrous setup expected to net him?

I’ve watched these guys and they are very good with nitrous and soon turbos but I know he was aiming for one one the slower classes. I’m guessing lower 9’s.

This is (Nathan Chestler) and one of the guys that is going to help me with my nitrous tune. He sold the car that he won this class to a friend. They both are moving away from nitrous. Like I said I was shocked when he was willing to play with a Mopar

I know nothing about turbos but this is his friend Matts engine and in the screenshot it tell how much boost he is planning on. These guys know how to play. Drive them in and lay down a number.
