Pressing clutch down I hear this..

My clutch assembly clicks (more like a clank) pretty loud sometimes when I press the foot pedal down. Usually the pedal will not return fully and have to pull it up by hooking my toes under the pedal, then it snaps up. This has little to do with actual clutch engagement, this happens afterwards.
I was told that the small upper shaft, where the spring mounts, is probably worn or has a flat spot, causing this. Supposedly it has nothing to do with the external linkages, which are new from Brewers.
I would have to drop the entire assembly from under the dash to get to it. Its supposedly not an easy removal, not to mention the repair itself. This shaft, or pin is not very accessible and is pressed in.
Thats what I was told, I really dont know much more about it. I would prefer to have a replacement part in hand before I even dropped the pedal assembly and layed up the car.
Not sure if this is kind of what you are experiencing.
Maybe someone else here has also had this issue.
Hope it helps.
