Question for those with flat black or satin hoods

-
I used organisol (the original stuff) and regretted it - it was terrible to care for and any wax from adjacent paint was a nightmare. Last time I went with gloss black and never looked back. If you actually drive your car the answer is obvious.

I learned from str12-340 and went with gloss black as well (never was a fan of the flat/matte/satin).

Thanks for all of the replies I’ve decided to go with Eastwood Rat Rod Satin paint hope it works out as good as the reviews say it does.

I have the "factory" Organasol that YEAR ONE was selling in the 1990s. The best product I found for keeping it clean is Wizards Quick Detail (22oz Wipe Down Matte Detailer). I get mine on Amazon.

Summit racing hot rod flats. Have used their black orange white, and blue to do full vehicles. Cheap sprays great, uv protectant, one stage and dry in an hour. Lots of pics on my Facebook page. Cool Hand Customs

did anyone clearcoat the satin hood?
I always clear coat with a satin or flat clear. It's the best for durability as far as I'm concerned.
Never had problems with it chalking or staining.

I agree, but I painted my stripes and side trim on my boat with single stage SEM in 2000 and it still looks good.

Yep SEM is great stuff the hot rod black is what I used on a 2015 Challenger a bout 4 years ago the owner supplied the paint and still looks great. I still prefer to clear coat.

May I ask where you ordered the paint from please, is the paint made by Cross Fire
I bought the paint at our local NAPA they carry paint and body shop supplies. (Martin Senior) I gave the paint code above. Just used it on this car also. As stated water drops and wax do not stick. Wipe it off just like its gloss and it matched stripes perfect. Spraying it is idiot proof with any cheap gun. I used a Harbor freight throw away $16 gravity gun. Even The base coat is idiot proof. The clear is where you need the good gun to prevent buffing.

Same car when we brought it home. We installed the driver motor then pulled it for paint after we stood back and saw how bad it looked. The motor it came with was a solid lifter 408. its in the mill today getting square decked and redone for the new owner. Its going in a Barracuda

Those of you using Blitz Black, does car wax stain it if you accidently get some on it?
No it doesn't stain it it may leave a small film that is easily removed with modern paint protectants. my car came with the factory flat black hood so I've been dealing with it for 30 years or so before my new paint job I just would armorall the hood and it always came out looking Sharp defect free. But now after my new paint job I just use turtle Wax exterior detailer
