What do I need to know about spindle and disc brake upgrade kits? I want to keep the torsion bars.

Doctor Diff has all the basics covered. There are lots of options for disc brakes using mostly factory parts. I'm running 13 inch Baer rotors with Viper calipers on my Duster. I have the stock '73 type front suspension on the car with torsion bars.

I’m putting a 440 in an a body, so I need to upgrade my spindles for disc brakes. What brand of kit do you recommend, if I stay with the torsion bars. That's a loaded question...
So are you asking about a BB engine swap, or a disk brake upgrade, or a combo with aftermarket parts????
OEM parts?
BBP wheels or OEM SBP wheels?
No need for power booster on the master cylinder?Doctor Diff has all the basics covered. There are lots of options for disc brakes using mostly factory parts. I'm running 13 inch Baer rotors with Viper calipers on my Duster. I have the stock '73 type front suspension on the car with torsion bars.

I'm assuming you have drum brakes now.I’m putting a 440 in an a body, so I need to upgrade my spindles for disc brakes. What brand of kit do you recommend, if I stay with the torsion bars.
In that case, the 11.75" rotors from some B and R bodies is about as big as you can go with the cop rims. These rotors will fit the later ('73+) A body and F/M/J body disc spindles as long as you use the appropriate factory caliper adapter. Dr. Diff carries them if you can't locate them in a boneyard. The Dana 60 rear end already has the disc brake upgrade. Changing spindles on the front so I can Run disc brakes in the front also. Plenty of room, Mopar interceptor slot rims.

Good info, thanks! That is a red flag right there. If the Dana 60 has disc brakes on it then you need to match the front brakes to it or else you'll have a mess. Don't assume that you can mix and match random brake parts together and have something that works. You can't mix and match random brake parts anymore than you can mix and match random engine parts. Everything has to work together as a system.
Post a picture of the disc brakes that you have on your Dana 60 and I'll probably be able to to tell you what they are. The primary question will be what size the piston is in the rear caliper. The front calipers need to have roughly twice the piston area as the rear caliper for the brake system to be properly balanced.Good info, thanks!
By the way, I will be running this car at this dragstrip to see what it will do but I mainly want to make it a cruiserI got my brakes all squared away, 11 1/2” drilled and slotted discs front and rear. Going to run new brake lines and I have a new master cylinder and proportioning valve. New subject, my 440 has aluminum heads, big cam and 10:1 compression. I’m running a FiTech EFI. Wondering what my spark plug heat range should be along with thermostat temperature. I’m sure they will both have a direct influence on each other.
