Bare Bones Budget 400 Build

I've been wanting to build another engine. I guess seven isn't enough. lol My thought was when I got the Valiant that "somewhere" down the road I would put a low deck big block in it. I've acquired two blocks and a myriad of parts over the past year or so. I've chosen which block. Pressure washed it today.....for the first of many times. As it sat there on the dolly after I sprayed it down with Sea Foam, I thought about putting a very bottom of the barrel budget build on here, so maybe yall can laugh at me instead of that other guy. I am right at the very beginning with this, so it would be easy to do. I have done a couple of things already. Like cleaned the pistons and rods up, sprayed the block with paint remover and pressure washed it. That's about where I am. So would yall like to see "what I do" when I put one together "ALMOST" with no budget"? I thought about maybe doing a few videos and posting to YouTube, but I don't make my living like that and I'm not trying to act like "I'm somebody" because lord knows "I AIN'T". But if what I do "HERE" could maybe help one person, OR maybe some of yall here could help me. I need all I can get.

Here's the goal on this one.

Nothing will see the machine shop, unless absolutely 100% necessary. So far, I am pretty sure the block will pass on that. It looks good. And AS MUCH AS I would LOVE to have it square, parallel decked and to OE spec, I know once I do "THAT" it's all downhill and I will have spent 2500 bucks at the machine shop. ....and I could. We're in a "good place" and I could just fork it over. But I have other priorities. Kitty wants to finish some work we've been doin to the house and so do I.

This is going to be to show what you can achieve basically all on your own with a decent foundation to start with.

If yall are interested, I'll give it a go. If not, just don't say anything. LOL

Rusty, this is a good idea and thanks for sharing your build. This is more realistic for the average joe that wants to build an engine for his ride. With the right core parts you don't have to spend a fortune to have a good motor for your ride(s).
