426 hemi into 67 barracuda

-
I’m reviving this old thread since I now have a gen 2
hemi I want to install in my 67 fastback. I looked back over the responses and seems like it’s possible to make it happen. One question I have is has anyone done or know of anyone that has used the tti 218A
headers with a 4 speed?

Mechanical linkage clutch or hydraulic?

Troy has a TTI A-body hemi header with mechanical clutch in his Hemi Barracuda 4spd. He installed it with his iron block, k-member, bellhousing, and trans. Real parts, not foam stuff.

mechanical clutch is the plan thanks for responding i’m waiting on my short block
stroker for my bee to get finished up so i can finish it up and get on with the fastback
barracuda im close:thumbsup:

IIRC he had use the smaller bellhousing and fiddle with the bellhousing adapter plate. Can’t remember exactly.

He built his Kmember with S&S parts to place the motor to the TTI specs (his Dart)

yea i have the 10.5 hemi bell and a modified
spool mount k member that i done per Jim
Lusk’s measurements for a big block. Probably will have to fab my engine mounts
to set the engine to the tti specs. Anyone see any drawbacks to doing a coilover suspension to get rid of the torsion bars?
Maybe one of hemidenny’s conversion kits.

My ears were itching...

As we laid out stock K frame with the mounts and spacers, the clutch linkage angle correction plate and a hemi with a 4 speed is no problem. Just have custom headers built, your gonna be about 1200-1500 for in frame headers but it’s well worth the money. Your gonna buy those TTI’s and nothing is gonna fit.

glad you chimed in! I’m not at all disappointed about not using TTI headers on my build they are not equal
lenght tubes at least the best I can tell. What K member did the BO and LO cars use? Trying to figure
out motor mounts. I’m gonna need some guidance from you for sure.

they just used a standard a body K with the hemi mount kit. That’s why I was trying to not have you re invent the wheel as it works.

Thanks so I will need an 67’ to 69’ big block K member?

No. 68-72 Slant 6 will even work. You just remove the mounts.

Don’t get a 67 because it’s got an inferior 1 year only idler arm.

So do i have to use a engine plate or will I weld on new mounts?

Your choice how you go about it. You could also use a RMS, HemiDenny, etc aftermarket front suspension systems with engine mounts.

If I were to want to go with the factory k member who offers the new weld on mounts?

I feel like we’re going in circles lol. Greg spent the time to back engineer a correct set of Hemi Brackets from a real hemi super stock K frame. You can take any A body k frame (as wonderfully called out the 67 is hot garbage), cut all the mounts off and AFTER FITTING weld them in. In the earlier posts I gave the link to the shop and go under products. Your also more than welcome to call Greg and speak directly to the brain.
