I would suggest Using and calling Hughes, talk with them, they’ll steer you straight
The typical number of pages for this type of thread is usually at least 3 or 4....... so let’s get some fast rate cam proponents on here to stretch this out a little farther.
I normally chime in with my std answer of “Comp 268H”........ but I’m going to mix it up a little this time around.......
Isky 264-Mega
Sighs...Hand hits forehead ...then looks at the sky and says...'why god...?' as he closes tab...
I am leaning toward this cam for my application which is pretty close to the O.P.'s set up.I just got this for my budget 400 build. It's a good solid, proven grind and won't break the bank. Here's the small block version.
Melling M-Select Class 2 Camshafts 23203
I like that 264 Mega. Nothing wrong with that. Or the Comp 268. Or the Melling.
To each his own. These things need help on the exhaust side. That's why I like a split pattern. I got it. Why not recommend he run camshaftless? You know. Suggest he use computerized programmable electronic solenoids for each valve. It's been done, you know? That way he can spend every penny he has. Yeah let's do that.
Howdy all. I posted this question some time ago, but i have since made changes. Here is what i have:
78 police 360
Re-ring the original pistons, factory 72 340 intake, thermoquad carb, windage tray, factory heads with 3 angle valve job, 340 valve springs, factory exhaust manifolds, 323 gears, od833 four speed. Looking for 300 hp. Going in a 76 swinger.
also should i get moly rings or standard? Thanks!

Seeing that it doesn't come with lifters, what lifters do you recommend?
And timing chain and sprockets?
Did you see post 29?
*****, you know I don't have but one eye.
LOL...and you’re blind in the other...LOL got it.

If you are using exhaust manifolds, good idea .
If not, not needed and might hurt the milage, aka fuel put the pipe from over scavenge.
A lot of stuff is tossed out there... like the tune was mentioned sarcastically, someone saying advance cam 8 degrees... sure, a cruiser getting 8 mpg is fun on the wallet, sounds nice and crackly. What's good for one is a nightmare for others. Blanket statements galore, not saying by you...just other posts I've read between a couple threads here. People get triggered by one post and forget the other half 8n their retort . Done it, bought the t shirt
Yes you can tune it in or out...you can bandaid the mismatched you can manipulate anything 'on wheels or with tits' ...but its gonna come at a cost somewhere else. Good thing we have each other to help sound board with.
Back to the broad generalizations and what nots. Poke poke

I know plenty enough to see the cracks in the arguements
