Hey all, wondering if anyone knows what paint was used on the fastback trunk divider panels on the latch/ trunk side. I understand the inside was carpeted however the outside was painted? Black. I’ve read anywhere from just matte black paint, to textured black paint to, to something called flocking. Wondering if anyone knew for sure which it was. Also if the latch and t nuts were painted black or bare, and finally the latch I’ve heard was either painted like a aluminum color or bare wondering which it was. Thanks.

I used a flat black applied with a roller to maintain that rough textured look of the original.

Since the factory did thousands of these, I would assume that they were sprayed- they look like that. However the wood was very cheap and rough. I patched a couple small holes before I painted and in the right light they show up as smoother than the rest. So- difficult to duplicate exactly.

It also seems to depend on the year and plant. I posted this on facebook as well and had a 67 owner say his was flocked, a 68 member say a textured paint and then a 69 say it was just matte black paint.

My 66 was definitely flocked originally. No way I would ever try to put that back to original. I just used some spray on Berliner to give it some texture.
