What is the best way to add a vent to my 727? Transmission is in the car. I am having issues with the dipstick popping out. Thought about drlling a small hole in top of the dipstick right below the handle.

I never saw a vent on an automatic. You have other issues, Maybe try another dipstick first. I have seen the dipstick rubber bad from age. Could be internal pressure leak. I had a truck do this it was a broken lip seal internally.

I didn't think there was a vent on a 727 either. But I have read there is a vent by the front pump. But this vent is behind the converter.

Yeah the vent for the transmission is IN the top of the front pump. That's all the vent they need.

There is a opening in the front pump body of the 727 ! The opening is covered up by a tin plate. The tin plate is held on by two of the pump bolts ! The tin plate mounts on to two pump bosses so that the plate is held up above the opening so the transmission can vent ! Hope that helps

It could be clogged, but I've never seen that. Sometimes the vent is siliconed shut and a new vent is drilled in the top of the case near the back. maybe somebody did that and the new one is clogged.

I have read articles on hi h.p. , hi rpm drag cars running trans vents w/ a filter on them up high /even in the interior or trunk.
