Has anyone here rebuilt a rusted, rotted out great, bottom seat frame?

if you did, did you cut down a Notchback’s seat or did you locate a source for the frames pieces?

Since I haven’t located an A body Vert 67-69 rear seat bottom, I’m still trying figure out what to do.

My 68 Dart convertible sat outside under a lean-to with the top down for years. The front seat backs held a lot of water and rusted out some of the springs. The upholstery shop had a roll of seat spring material and was able to replace the bad pieces. Look for an upholstery shop in your area and see if they have any.

I have similar plan in mind. My vert seat bottom is not rusted beyond repair. Worst part is sides and front curves where perimeter frame meets the floor. Haven't attempted yet or decided would it be easier to turn the rust free notchback seat bottom into a vert seat bottom.
I noticed the springs in my vert seat bottom are not level. 2nd spring from each end lower than the others? I forget exactly. Something looked odd.
There was a nice vert seat for sale here but... in Canada. Could have been offered complete back and bottom too (I forget).

Hmm, anywhere in Canada to south-central Texas. That would be interesting shipping.

Please send me the link. Sort of like buying a lottery ticket - feels good to dream.

Thanks,
Bob

I would have to assume that the rear seat regardless of convert or not would use the same basic steel rail components.
My point is if you have another seat bottom, for instance from a hard top, that sections of the frame would have the same formed shape and except for curved sections you should be able to cut and splice as needed.

Alternatly you could cut out the bad and form one patch at a time and weld it in.

I don't have a link. I don't know if its still available. @4spdragtop
My point was that they do appear once in a while.

I have repaired 6 convertible rear seats and the front buckets. As long as you can weld and operate a grinder its very easy. I found the the older mopars pre 65 hard tops have similar coil spring seats to repair with

Good idea. A donor spring frame is on my radar.

Of all things, I was looking at an old bed spring. I think I can cut enough curved pieces off it to work. I’ll know as soon as I get the frames back.

yes that might work as well , but you also need the smaller click pen style spring to hold them in
