Covid 19 / Coronavirus

We are doing better now in CT. Out of 100 people that get tested, less than 1 % are positive. So, in theory, I'd have to walk by 100 tested people to meet someone who has it. I feel a little more comfortable when going out in public now. We are required to wear masks indoors, be 6 feet apart, bars are closed, outside restaurants only, Plexiglass shields at checkout counters, etc. A small price to pay for my health and others' health.

The south is really bad off now. Houston Texas has a positivity rate of 25%, meaning if everyone got tested, then every 4th person you walked by would have it. But not everyone gets tested. And because you test positive, It doesn't mean you are contagious at that moment. And because test results are backed up 7 to 10 days, you could be spreading it during that time. Some of the labs are running out the reagents necessary to do the tests. ICU beds are near or 100% in use.
After 6 months, there is still a lot we don't know about this virus. I haven't heard of any federal plan to slow this thing down. Just crunching numbers, it seems that there will be a lot more people dying a month from now. If and when a vaccine is produced, I'll wait a while to see how effective it is, and the side effects [if any].
