I am looking for good (useable/rebuildable) calipers as came from factory with (small bolt pattern) front disc option. My original units were NOT rebuildable so had to be scrapped. I plan to upgrade ('70 Swinger) to the '74 Duster setup, yes, with larger bolt circle, and then convert my Signet's 9-inch drums to the (4-piston) discs - initially as manual. Just getting some feelers out there. I hesitate to purchase new/rebuilt from usual businesses as the cost of these items and the core charge will be very high. thanks.
p.s. I already purchased the rebuild parts - before I knew my calipers were hooped.
NOTE: I should also add that I will give first consideration to CDN sources - again due to punishing $ exchange rates, shipping and taxes. thanks.

I have several pairs but I am in Hartford, CT USA. To be honest, I stripped these over 20 years ago! In a milk crate under the bench.

I have a couple of pairs and I will be stripping a few cars by the end of August. 70 duster 340, 71 duster 340,71dart and 75 dart sport 360 four gear car. Possibly a 71 Demon 340. So I will have lots of KH parts. Do a search. Kim

Product Reviews

The Swinger had sat for about 10 years with lines removed. All the pistons were rusted in place. Too much hassle and expense to even attempt a repair. The SS upgrade looks wonderful, however, this is all in U.S. $ and it will cost me an initial 40% extra - plus shipping and taxes. Not affordable.
On the other hand, choice number two is to retain fully functional 9-inch drums and convert to P.B. Either way, I am still going to need new M.C. and play with the lines and fittings. I suspected that there were other (core/used) calipers out there. But, how much difference can I expect regarding 'pedal effort' - if changed to manual discs? Having said this, IF I decide (or am convinced) to go ahead with the discs, I need to start with fully functional (aka: rebuildable) cores - not having to 'sleeve' them. I only drive up to 3 K. miles per year and do annual fluid changes.
p.s. The car is going to outlast me. Thanks for interest.

You are dreaming to think you are going to find a functioning set of calipers that are not in service, and on a car right now. Anything that has been sitting as a 'core' will need a rebuild, and sleeves are the way to fix, and update an early design.
Your old cores may well be able to be rebuilt. C.O. surely has seen the worst for rebuilding. Let them tell it cant be done, not your guessing.

I did say 'functional' - (aka: rebuildable) and I do not expect or intend to simply 'bolt on' used calipers. Well - (properly) maintained brake calipers should not require major surgery as there should not be contamination and corrosion. Factory pieces can be lightly honed - up to .002". With regular fluid changes, only deterioration should be the seals themselves - primarily due to age - and not the cast-iron bores - even thru 50 years. If someone is able to offer parts, I would only suggest that the pistons be removed - to inspect and measure the bores.
Your words of concern are duly noted. :)
