"slip over" housing ends?

I see Speedmaster sells some housing ends that they say are designed to slip over the tubes. To use those, the tubes would need to be perfectly straight in order for the housing end bearing bores to align with the axle bearing bores. I've narrowed hundreds of housings over the years, i can tell you that the ends of axle tubes are rarely in alignment with the housing bearing bores, especially after you weld brackets onto the tubes. While it's possible to straighten tubes after welding on brackets, it's a huge pain in the ***.

Butt weld style ends don't rely on straight tubes for proper axle bearing alignment. Far easier to achieve bearing bore alignment by letting the tubes do what they want as you weld on brackets, then as a last step install butt weld style ends using an alignment bar.
