Those of you that have a 6.4 hemi truck are you using Pennzoil 0w-40 oil or have you used other brands of 0w-40 oil? If memory serves me right it says in the manual to use an oil that meets a certain spec and Pennzoil is the only one that has the spec listed on their oil container, but Pennzoil and Chrysler/Fiat or whatever u want to call them are in business together. Didn't know if Valvoline or Mobil 1 0w40 is the same just didn't have their oil tested for that spec?

Not a truck, but we used Mobil 1 0w-40 in his 6.4 Scat. Ran it hard with zero issues.

Lots of 6.4 truck guys are using Redline 5W-30. I have a 5th gen Power Wagon and will either be switching over to Redline or Motul 300V when I make my first oil change.

As long as the oil meets the "MS" specs, there should be no problems. The wife's 300S has had nothing but Pennzoil in it since new. I buy the oil & Mopar filter from Wally world & change it when the computer says "Oil Change due soon".

There is a motor oil spec in your owners manual. There is a viscosity number on the oil fill cap. There is a spec for oil filters. Warrantee claims can be denied if you don't follow their rules. Oh, and save your receipts.

These new engines are very sensitive to viscosity...

Back in the 90's the retired parts manager at our local Ford store bought a new Crown Vic for his wife and continued to use his regular 10w40 Motorcraft oil.

40,000 miles later the engine seized... city driving clogged up the oil passages and burned up the main bearings.

Ford spec was 5w30 as I recall. Warranty denied.

Be careful what you use.

I have 2014 ram 3500 4wd ,I have used mobil1 143,000 miles no issues, two a good bit. I have hauled 30' trailer ,twice to Montana for elk hunting. I bought it it had 87,000 miles.Hauled this one yesterday, hoping to sell to fund more stuff for my mopars!

In all my diesels I use 0W40 Synthetic all year around. The .7 engines all need the thin oils speced for them. Their clearanced are too small for heavier oils. They all have lifter problems if u don’t use the speced oils. Kim
