I got a new cable how do you cut them without frayin? Dremel with cutoff wheel? I know side cutters don't work.
Thanks

Go buy a pair of cable cutters for bicycle cables. They work amazing. Company that sells them is called park tool

I dunked mine in plastic dip around where I needed to cut it, let dry overnight & cut it the next day.

I haven't cut a throttle cable but lots of other larger cables. Wrap tight with electric tape. Cut with a cold chisel.

I give them a good soaking in crazy glue and let it dry, then cut it with a big set of dykes. The side-cutter kind, not the butch kind.

I never installed a loco kar cable. I have removed them after they ripped and install a factory cable for customers who got sick of the cable ripping when driven long distance. I went home and got parts for guys to drive back home from Carlisle. They showed up the following year and still had the same factory system I installed.

There are different lengths that mopars have and many different brackets. You just have to get creative and understand the mechanics and geometry. Truck ,six ,SB and ,BB, a body 340,318, /6, and many others in different bodies. I never came across a carb and intake I couldn't use a factory cable and brackets on. Even this truck with a blower with dual quads I used a factory cable and throttle pressure. My Duster I believe was a 318 or /6 cable and a big block truck bracket I modified using a 318 one. I know the aftermarkets look amazing and they provide everything you need. But they are just not made to withstand High mileage abuse. Not only that most are not made in the U.S.A.. Make it yourself. "Made in U.S.A". I love salvage parts. F--K China. If not U.S.A. I'd sooner buy Mexican and Canadian

I get a rise making the factory brackets/cables/kick down/ shifter linkage all work. I refuse to use aftermarket crap

I've done this. You don't want to solder too "lengthy" as you don't want solder down into the "flex" area. Use an acid flux, figure out where you want it cut, and just tin the cable as you would a wire.

I once went to a cruise. I guy pulled in opened his hood and took the breather off. I walked over and asked him if he needed help. He said "Nope take a look" He just wanted to show all the fancy anodized bracketry . It did look pretty cool. Made it look like big money invested. I told him he should just put a small coned air horn on it. Next time I saw him that was what he had. I actually liked the look and gave him the thumbs up.

Me? I cover my ugly home made **** up with a home made breather.

small block 4bbl's have the shortest cable. But your 318 cable will work. Y

If your intake is a lot higher like mine was you'll have to make a bracket . The cables all have the same pull distance it is the total length that is long and short. Remember there is a mopar bracket that is needed for all non factory carburetors, it bolts tho the carb. The throw on all mopars is the same so the cable just has to reach the bracket. You need a cable if it doesn't reach the clamp. You need to find the 4bbl bracket that bolts on with the intake. The 2bbl braket puts the cable clamp to far back from the carb. and to far to the right. Here is a 2bbl vs 4bbl.

Like I said no matter how short or long the total length is they all have the same throw pull distance. You are looking for the orange intake bracket Pictured below for a standard to medium intake. the blue set up is 2 bbl. Note how far the cable clamp is moved forward and stood up for 4 bbl. to move it out for the width of the carb.
