What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

-
Didn't do anything "with" or "to" the car but I did do something "for" it. Bought a set of front fenders from AMD for my '71 Duster. They are for a '72 but the price was right. $535 out the door.

I was running a 2 fan system that I felt wasn't moving enough air...so I am swapping it out for a single Taurus fan.

No big deal but it's well on the way to 100 degrees so I'll get back after it later...

Let us know how that Taurus fan works out... I have the dual Contour fan and it has no problem keeping my overcammed 451 cool in 94 degree weather :)

Today I removed the 2" carb studs (4780-2 plus Power Shot plate) and installed 2.5" studs, then a 1/2 inch wood spacer right under the carb. Should help keep my tune more consistent in the miserable southern MO summer weather.

Next: Alternator, Fan, and Power Steering mount ups.

Getting close to driving again . . .

Not much going on but planing. Haven’t even put 100 miles on the car this year. But the FedEx guy brought me a present.

Changed the oil.

Tools;
10mm wrench for the plastics under the car
13mm wrench for the drain plug, breaker bar to get off, 20 foot pounds on the torque wrench to put it back on.

Old oil filter was a CarQuest cheapie. No clue what oil they used.

New oil filter is a Wix 57899xp.
New oil is seven quarts of Royal Purple 0w40.

not my car but i did some nice brake work today
one of my buddies was having an issues with an import
he put new pads on it, and when it was time to bleed the brakes, the bleeder snapped of

so, he asked me if i could give him a hand to try and weld something on the bleeder so he could take it off

i figured i had to take a half a day to drive out there and get it done

the kid showed up 20 minutes ago with just the brake caliper
i think it ended up taking a good 3 minutes of my time to grind down an old allen head key i could fit in there, weld it on and screw it out

now to see if he comes back with the other side

Radiator is in.

Just got back from the Maiden Voyage.

5 mile shake down run, getting to know the new girl . . .

well, talked to my buddy last nite, and the other bleeder came out no problem

@George Jets
i would be cautious using that particular style of air cleaner
ive heard reports of the engine backfiring, and the foam element in those catching fire

The previous owner of my Barracuda had one of those aircleaners and I replaced it right quick.

You are absolutely correct, it happened to me, burnt the foam filter element completely up, I threw it away and put a stock air cleaner back on.

Here's a old picture of mine before it burnt up, I think it sucked some of the foam down the engine also.

Running out nice, all dialed in.

Kickdown is working just right, went into the transmission and adjusted the bands too.

Talking like a Mopar at 95 mph, Dual H Pipe Exhaust running all the way out the back.

Liking this a lot, nice driver. Car Cruise In Town here Wednesday Evening.

Fun, Fun . . .
