This is essentially what I used.
Earls AT581306ERL -6 AN Port Plug with O-Ring Seal, Black, 2 Pc.
I had a flat gasket I used instead of the oring. I did not weld a nut on the inside of the housing. There was enough meat there for me to drill and tap. And I can get full torque with an Allen key and it doesn't leak. And there's no issues when using a jack.
