Ever heard of BVD rims?

I was at S&S Tire this weekend, getting my lug nuts straightened out and a used BBP spare tire that would fit my spare tire well. I asked the owner if I could gift him my original 13" SBP rim and polyester tire.

This guy, in his 60s, tells me when he was busting tires at 13, they called the Dodge 13" rims "BVDs" for Barracuda - Valliant - Dart.

Gotta love talking to guys that have been practicing their craft for 50+ years! :popcorn:

Reminds me of the joke about the doctor that told his patient he needed a urine, fecal, and semen sample and the guy handed the doc his BVDs.

Back in the early days of the Barracuda, Valiant, & Dart the wheels were known as BVD's in the tire & wheel shops because of the 5 x 4" bolt pattern.
 
When I had my first Mopar, a 63 Dart 270 /6 2 door, I went by a friends house. His brother came out to look at my car & said he had a set of wheels for it. He went into the garage & brought out 4 chrome reversed wheels. I think I paid 20 or 25 bucks each for them & it took another 3 weeks before I could afford a set of used 14" tires to mount on them.
 
Dig. My first car was a 64 Impala SS. It took me forever to afford the down payment, insurance, etc. When I FINALLY got the budget together, my dad tells me I'm a man now and it's time to pay rent. The look on my face made him bust out laughing. It was funny to one of us.:poke:
