I upgraded my 73' Duster 340 with a 140 amp Powermaster One Wire Alternator with an internal regulator (Powermaster 8-37529: Upgrade Alternator Chrome Finish | JEGS). Unfortunately, due to it's depth size, it will not fit in the stock alternator location/bracket. It hits the valve covers. I came up with the pictured mount using two long bracket arms and a longer belt however it just does not feel as solid as it should. I was wondering if anyone has installed one of these on their SB and how you went about doing it? I have searched countless sites and bracket types and can not find one that will mount to the water pump and cylinder heads for this alternator. Thank you in advance!

I have a Power Master Alt. on my 68 Barracuda. Mounted in the fashion shown in the pictures. I flipped the alt. and used the original adjustment bar after I heated it and increased the curve. Works good and is solid. The large bolt goes right into the head. It is close to the head but clears.

Unfortunately the alternator mount shown above wouldn't work. I have a performance mechanical fuel pump which it hits with that configuration. Looking for more suggestions if any one has had this similar problem. Thanks!

Powermaster does make a Mopar style squareback alternator. Maybe exchange it. It will save a lot of grief.

Do you know if those Powermaster Mopar Squarebacks are one wire with a built in regulator. That is really what I'm looking for and haven't found one like that. If you have a link I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for the response!

Beautiful engine bay! I just pulled my motor and trans and am going 1 wire alt for the clean look. You did a great job on the bay, I hope to do half as well.

just remember that the bolt that goes into the water-jacket can hit the cylinder and break it
? what about a cop car Lecee Nevile bracket?

I'm trying to determine if this alternator has the regulator built in or not. I don't see that part number on the alternator though.
Do you guys see the part number on yours, and if so, where is it located?
Thx!

you are not running all that power through the firewall and stock ammeater are you
plus stock wires are too small as is fuze or fuzeable link

For sure no! I rewired the engine bay and under dash. Plus I have crackedback's headlight kit as well. Plus all aftermarket dash and gauges as well.
I had one dash fire last year after driving 500 miles to Carlisle and after I got home, all that old stuff came out.

They sell a direct drop in one wire.

Hello,
Nice engine bay for sure! The moroso starter relay, is that what they would call the Ford style? Was it anything odd to install? I'm looking for something like that to replace mine mostly for esthetics.

what aesthetically is wrong with the mopar one?

his being SGBARRACUDA's? that's not actually a starter relay, it's to kill the whole electrical system and engine when the battery disconnect is switched off. i don't know if he's kept and moved the oem starter relay, or if he's using it for a starter relay too. if you're going to have a battery disconnect, that is one of the good ways to wire it. and if you just want to use the MOROSO because it looks good, cool.
this is what is usually meant by "FORD relay"

but i think the mopar one is better looking...:D
