W2 intake collection

Not all intakes may be capable for f the level of porting needed to do the job. Yes, we know it has been done before. That is not in dispute.

This single plane Iron W2 I have doesn’t seem to have enough meat to open it up to a 340 port much less W2s
I wonder how strong they ran in those circle track classes?

I don't know if you guys are still looking at this stuff but if you are here are a couple more interesting W2 intakes. The first picture has a painted manifold (Ed RPM) and LD340 the second has the two M1 W2 s and LD340.

Interesting thread, I had a NOS Holley Pro Dominator converted for EFI Use. I ended up having to use the Dominator top and adapters so I could rotate the throttle bodies and run a more simple throttle linkage. With the fuel rail in the way the bell-crank style linkage was not going to work. Hindsight I should have just put dominator throttle bodies on it but I already had one 4150 TB from my other intake. This setup works really good, it drives around better than it did with the Indy Single plane on it.

Individual coils too? Nice.
How far above the hood/cowl line is the top of the carb or the air cleaner? Doesn't look to be too high? I've got an AAR hood on my E-body Cuda and am wondering if I could squeeze a tunnel under the hood. I know some are taller than others.

Without the spacers under the throttle bodies the stock hood would actually close. There was not room for an air filter but the hood would shut.
I'll try and remember to upload a picture with the hood on when I get home, its just a black flat fiberglass pin on. I really miss the look of the stock hood. The next version of this engine will hopefully see a turbo, then Then I can have a top for the intake made with a forward facing throttle body.

Does it matter that the chevy cross ram carb placement is opposite the STR-12?

New to my W2 Intake Collection !
NOS Holley Pro Dominator Tunnel Ram.

That gives me a NOS M1 Dual Plane , NOS Edelbrock Victor and this dominator with both 4150 and 4100 top plates..
If only I could find an LD 340 W2...

That’s cool I have the pro dominator W2 NOS intake also. Not may left. I don’t think they ever made a LD 340 W2 intake. At least I never heard of or seen one, and I had a lot of LD340s

There is a picture of one here on FABO. They were made.... but how many? I wonder if anyone has an old PAW catalog to see if it’s listed in there.

It is said that they did make a LD340 equivelant for the W2

i ran a W2 Strip Dominator on some X heads when I was young and dumb. I must have got it cheap as I remember filling the oval ports with Marine-tex epoxy to make them square and line up with the LA gaskets! I faintly remember the bolt holes being a little ratted out to get the LA bolts in there. Like I said, young and dumb...and pretty poor too! I had it at the Long beach swap meet (back to W2 port shape) and was getting no bites so I took a walk and found a guy selling some bare W2 heads for $300 (yeah, it was that long ago) I told him I had the intake for those heads and traded him straight across for his LA Strip Dominator that I ran for a few more years.
