I’m trying to force some hooker headers to go into my 76 duster which I’ve been putting a 360 magnum in. Passenger side I can get it in leaning it over to driver side but on the driver side headers I can’t get them past the steering column and steering box. If anyone’s Put these on and has some tips I’d appreciate it cause it looks like I’ll have to replace them but being so close to putting everything in and bailing on these headers and waiting for new ones feels like the last thing I want to do right now

Pull the column and get yourself some room, thread it back in once your headers are bolted in. Not sure if they 'capture' the steering shaft but it will help.

Like most other SB headers you have to take the motor mount loose and install from the bottom. and maybe the tie rod link also.

What part number headers? Are you sure they're not for a Ford truck?

I have them on my Duster. Trick is getting the car up as high possible, i.e. 24" - 36". Take your time they'll fit, at least on a 72 manual steering Duster. Need to pull the steering link. May want to put some masking tape on the spots that rub as you fish and shove them in. Also helps to have someone pulling/guiding them in from the top and one pushing from below.

Good luck,
Pat

I was able to "screw' in a set of headers on another chassis. Collector straight down, and turn them in. But height is key if your floor is stopping any forward progress.

When you get that left side small block header in you'll be known as a true for a bodies only Mopar forum warrior....
