Installed a Direct Lift 4-post lift in my shop the other day

I don't see why it'd be necessary to mount it. It's not like it's going anywhere with something on it. Probably dang heavy enough on its own that it won't move empty.

It's pretty darned wobbly right now, Rusty, when the ramps are lifted all the way up, even with no vehicle on the lift. But that's because it is way out of level, so I haven't adjusted the cable tension yet. I'm going to level it up by using pieces of plywood of different thicknesses under the columns, then measure the plywood and buy steel fish plate of the right thickness. If the lift is still unstable after doing that, then I'll have the plate drilled and attach the lift to the floor. I'm hoping to be able to put my B200 van on top and my '62 Valiant under it during the winter.

Just discipline yourself not to buy anything you don't really need, and to save a little money from each paycheck, and within about a year you'll be able to afford to pay cash for your lift.
That's not the issue. Last year sold my house and I'm currently renting here in Ma. waiting 2 years for my wife to be 100% vested in her Goverment job for benifit purposes. Then I'll buy my House with Detached garage or barn and set up shop. My current garage items and car stuff is packed in a 28' tractor trailer box and waiting to get towed there when ready.(Messy shop pic)

Nice shop!

The seller, Shop Equipment USA of Hayward, CA, works with an independent delivery company that charged me $400 to pick it up in Hayward and to tow it about 200 miles to my location. The young man who delivered it did about 90+% of the work of unloading it onto the ground (I had to help him a little bit). Then I broke the package down and carried the heavy parts into my garage separately with my tractor, using the lift boom from my post hole auger on the 3-point hitch.

In retrospect, I would have first obtained a large, tapered pin in order to line up the bolt holes in the end of the ramps with their mating holes in the yokes. Lining up those holes and starting the bolts was the only difficulty that I had in assembling it.

The written instructions aren't really that great for somebody who has never assembled a lift before, but there are videos on the internet about how to assemble it.
Thanks, I appreciate the info. Seems like a big part of these lifts are getting them delivered and then getting them to the spot where you assemble them.
Did you use your tractor to help get it off the truck then? Thanks, Steve

No, the delivery man had his own method of lifting it off the truck, using an engine hoist and jacks.

Now that I've got it level and the cables adjusted, it's not wobbly at all when it's all the way up.

I would be worried about it tipping over ,say your letting it down and you didn’t notice a safety lock was hung up and all the weight shifts ?? At least if she’s bolted down you got a chance .

Biff, I know what you are talking about. Once while installing it, something similar happened: one of the cables came off its pulley, which made one corner lift higher than the others, and the danged thing began to tip over! That is some scary stuff all right. I bolted it down.

Just got done installing the Triumph NOS 9000 using 2 cherry pickers by myself. Picked it up in Columbus on my flat bed trailer. $3100 out the door. Main reason I went with this model is it’s SAE.
