Freds 73 Scamp restore on a budget

Don't think it's gonna help much.
I moved here to get away from populated areas because I like empty space.
I think a lot of the traffic is due to people not wanting to or not being able to fly. My nephew is stranded in New Zealand because of cancelled flights. 5 times so far.

That sucks best to stay off planes mostly leaving the country.

Sounds like he'll be there a bit longer than he wanted. Hope he gets home ok.
I think the stinker would like to stay there forever. He applied for a work visa but they told him to pound sand. 1 year and you are outofthere.

Been painting interior parts the last few days and it was tan and white before so takes a bit to make sure I got everything painted good. Used a water borne cleaner and a scratch pad to clean the parts then an adhesion promoter before I put the paint on that was made for plastic and vinyl. I'm kinda hopping it works well and holds on good because I just can't afford new interior trim and doesn't fit as good as factory I think.

Sounds like you got it right. I use metal prep and scotchbrite to clean raw plastic. That mild acid works well.

I hope it works been years since I painted vinyl and gonna paint the rear seat next and when I can afford getting it redone then someone can sit in the back seat.

took the Scamp on a long trip to Fargo North Dakota on Sunday and she ran well. Cleaned all the bugs off today and she looks pretty good.

Hood is close to being painted just ran out of steam there for a bit but striped all the paint off fixed all the dents and epoxy primed and now in primer and blocking it out and re primed it today.

The windshield is original but pitted and turning white in the lower corners so a new one on the way.
Still waiting for my new front seats after 2 months and getting a bit upset.

Wow, what seats Fred?
There TMI got them from Summit Racing for $1000 delivered but took 2.5 months to get them. And they sent me 2 left seats! Not real happy about that will call and find out what's the problem tomorrow. I'm sure you know Steve what it's like ordering parts.

looks great, what finish did you use on the scoop?
Hadn't painted it yet that's the paint that was on it when I bought the car.
Will do a repaint on it with base black then a flat clear coat on top.

I'm curious as to which parts of the panels you're painting here. Did you paint the wood grain?
No interior was white and just painted it black wood grain is factory. but will get new back seat and door panels when I can afford it.
