I am in need of good condition stock 340 645 rods. Bolts not needed as I have some ARP bolts ready for install. Floating pin.
Thanks,,,
FYI,,, not a scammer,,, just a noob :)

I have so many rods I can't give them away fast enough. I can send you one for shipping cost. I'll send one with a small bump above the pin They have the most meat between the rod and pin end. $10 shipped. PM me for Paypal. I have some that were just thrown into the pile with the pistons yesterday. I'll take the piston off.

I have some rods as well so put me next in line. However, keep in mind that if you replace the rod bolts, you have to resize the big ends. Just sayin'

Here are some of the rods I took off today. I have a bunch more in engines and in the shed somewhere , These were in the garage . AC is on gave me something to do inside. You can have what ever you want but you have yo pay shipping. You can see what I was talking about the bumps on top. The smaller the bump the less porosity between the pin and rod. These are all 68 through 71 pistons and rods. I have many more of the 72-73 all floating pins. I can throw what ever you want in the sonic cleaner. These rods are $5 each plus flat rate rod

All the rods I ever broke were large bump rods. Years ago I would go through all the motors and take the small bumps for my motors to build. You'll find that information in one of the small block books from years ago. I have all the books stashed here somewhere. someone already asked for the books . So they are spoken for when I uncover them in this mess when we move to the new shop.

First,,, I want to apologize for taking so long to respond. I never anticipated such a quick response,, and I learned something about these rods I never knew. The 340 that came with the project '69 Valiant did so in pieces tossed in a Rubbermaid tote box. I am open to any advice or information sources to this motor.. Thanks!!

Thanks for the tip... do you know a info source that lets me know that process?

Any machine shop will be able to help with that process. They do it all the time. If you spin a rod bearing or change out the rod bolts, that procedure is routinely done.

Stock bolts used to have a 3 torque cycle life: and 2 of those were spent before it left the line. Once when the big end was honed, 2nd was when the motor was assembled, and 3rd when you torqued them back on. ARP's have a different metallurgy so they torqued differently and everyone suggests you get the big end resized when going to an ARP or 180000 psi bolt. Not sure if the 180000 psi bolts had the same fatigue cycle, probably not. better bolts have a machined spot on the end for a bolt stretch meter instead of a hard torque setting.
