shots from the garage...

The good the bad the ugly.... decided last Tuesday to hit Famoso for a West Coast Hot Rod race. The racing was held at night so that was the only way I was going! They literally ran from 8pm to 5am!! Head hit the pillow at 4am sat and 5am Sunday. 74 degree air at 2am felt REALLY good as compared to the 120 degrees thurs night when we loaded the car in the desert hell in which I live.

I was a bit nervous to release the ole trans brake, but the launch was calmed by wheel spin (1.36 60), and I didn’t make the 1-2 shift as we “forgot” to swap the high side rpm chip from 6000 to 8000.

Pass two still took off a bit squirrelly (1.27 60) but ran through on a 7300 shift point to a 9.21 at 144 and some change. This was at 2am with a 2200DA.

sat night we entered the Pro class and were plagued by air shifter issues, and then the final pass I won in my buy back round, but we have expensive noises. Sounds good cranking over (even compression), but light it off and there’s noise. Thought flex plate, but the oil psi seems to sweep more with rpm so enough of that. Cars back in the garage and maybe after a couple days of recovery we can start looking at things. It’s the really hot season, but if you want to be ready for the really nice season, you gotta pay your dues..... in sweat!

I have been facing my own problems with a faster engine. I almost just want to go back to a 12 second car and just have fun again......for once.
