simplest and easiest way to clean it off stuff, hang the item from a pole in direct sun light, walk away for a couple hours, come back and it'll have all dripped off, suggest putting a 5 gal bucket under it to catch the mess. Used to do this to the old WW2 surplus rifles and stuff we'd buy.
