Out with the old hot rod in with a new one

I wish I could ask him! He built the car about 17 years ago and as I said he wanted to make it look as if the factory built it, I believe the manifolds are off of a B body if I recall. it is very close on the passenger side but it works! Very fun car took it out tonight to the first car meet and had lots of people asking questions about it! LOL. It was pretty cool.

Any chance you could post some pictures of how the power steering gear and the steering shaft/column clear the manifold?

Here is a few pictures of the steering shaft. Not real easy to see or get pics of. I’ll have to get under it maybe.

You’re not gonna miss the Duster with that swap. Love the steel wheels, hub caps, perfect green. A lot of guys paint these cars a bright modern shade of lime green and it just doesn’t quite look right. Doesn’t look period correct and doesn’t look right to be honest. That shade of green is absolutely perfect. Someone had very good taste restoring that one. A 440 in a A body is going to be a lot of fun.

Lol, yeah the duster will always have a spot in my heart! It is a fun car, but this one is a blast and the fact one of my best friends built and owned it really makes it a bit special already.
I agree some colors just do not work on these cars and Dan chose this color to stay with a real factory look as that was his goal with the build, make it appear is if it was ordered this way.
He liked the one of none types. He did the same style with a 440-6 pack 70 Polara 4 speed! Awesome car too! I wish he was still around, he sure built some awesome cars besides being a great friend. Thanks for the kind words on the dart!

This was that Dan's car? That's super cool, too bad the Polara went to Flipperville.

I have pictures of this car from the St. Peter show back in '09 and '10, I need to get them from my laptop.

I would turn that aluminum spacer into a paper weight. Buy a wood one. Wood doesn’t transfer heat to the carb. Aluminum is the best conductor of heat. Blows my mind that people buy or install aluminum ones. Hell, it blows my mind that people manufacture them.

Yep it was Dan States car. Cool if you have any pics of it! Yeah I loved that Polara!
