Another burnout thread....

I understand the risks to the transmission and operator if the car hooks up between the 1-2 shift. everyone says to shift into second before letting off the gas. Many say to start in second so that you cannot hook up incorrectly.
I have a transgo TF2 kit and a B&M Quicksilver shifter and a Hurst Line Lock. 512 rb with a 727 trans

M question is, if I start a burnout with the shifter in second, won't it really be starting in first and I have to wait for a shift before lifting and releasing the line lock? Or would it be better to start in first with the line lock on and shift to second and then release the line lock and roll out?

I have never done a burnout at the track, just the back roads. Total rookie here. I do not want to hurt anyone or the car.
You are correct. The only thing I will add is as you release the line lock and the car begins to roll out you need to slowly lift off the throttle.
