Had something built I have always wanted. A split deck tilt open trailer. Fixed deck with ramps for golf cart( finally own one) and tilt deck which makes it easier for me to load/ unload the car.
Lotta tongue weight on my 1/2 ton, need bags or a weight distribution hitch, with cart on front.
First time out in my life with a way to get around for me and the wife at the track. Full weekend on tap racing. Cant wait.

great idea!

"From the looks" you should be able to shed at least some tongue weight by moving the load, both of them

I've always wanted golf cart as well!
Good for you!
How about backing the car on? That could distribute some more weight to the back as well.... It won't be any less aerodynamic LOL...

Its kinda freaky driving the thing up into the air before the trailer starts coming down on the piston when loading it, backing it up might be too much excitement for an old guy like me...lol

cant move the golf cart from where it sits now. Fixed deck is 5’ wide..cart 4’
Can and have moved the car around. Made a test drive tonight, was fine at 60. Wont push it past that without a 3/4 ton or band aid( air bags or weight dist hitch)

Nice trailer! Maybe would have gone with a triple axle? or had them move the dual axle forward a bit to compensate for the tongue weight? But that was before, this is what you have now. I kinda like the "back it on" idea to redistribute some weight. Of course, you don't want too much weight to the rear or handling and safety will be compromised. But it would be worth a try to see how it does that way.

Very nice Don. I've got to order new tires for my farm trailer to get ready for Bowling Green next month.

I figured you big time racers would have enclosed car haulers hooked to a F450. lol
Nice car and trailer. towing with a 1/2 ton gives me white knuckles.

The stance on your car looks perfect.
Love the way the rear wheel tucks inside the fender from this side view
This can be hard to accomplish with some cars and tire/wheel combinations
Perfect!

I would definitely recommend a weight distributing hitch for that setup. Your truck can handle pulling it just fine, but transferring the weight a little really makes it feel so much better.
My old 1999 Ram 2500 with 5.9 gas engine felt like a death trap wandering all over no matter how I setup the load. Weight distributing hitch made it very comfortable. Same trailer and hitch setup is now behind my 2008 Ram 1500 with 5.7 Hemi and it tows better than my old truck.
It won’t feel like a diesel and fifth wheel, but way better than without a weight distributing hitch.

Nice set up! I really like those tilt trailers. If you think about it, now you have a good excuse to tell the wife that you need a Cummins.:D

A weight distribution hitch, with sway control will make a world of difference on a 1/2 ton truck.
I had to have one using my 1/2 ton truck pulling my camper or it was white knuckle driving.

Upgraded to a 1 ton truck, and there is no need for the distribution hitch.

weight distribution hitch would be all you need, besides brake controller for trailer brakes,
ive pulled a lot of trailers with an 04 1500 5.7 hemi pulled good, have a 32foot enclosed that I used last summer, that would have been better with a 3/4 ton truck tho, but that hemi has the power to pull it,just get a weight hitch and it will keep the load more stable ,I wouldn't put the car on backwards too much weight on back of trailer then.
good looking car and trailer set up tho.

i own a car dealership. Can buy anything. We specialize in Subaru’s but i always make it a point to have a truck on the lot to use to go racing.
Just bought the one in the picture. 2014 Ram.
Diesel, i have no need for. Dont drive enough distance to be worth fooling with one. They sit if i am not racing. 6, 7 times a year anymore is all i get out.
Probably start buying 3/4 tons after this one gets sold.
Thats the worry... at anytime somebody could come in and buy the truck. I try and hide them out back and don't. advertise them

Nice set up!!

thanks Jay.
Little more tongue weight than i thought about when having it built, but it will work just fine. Without the golf cart on it, tows unreal nice.
Just need to( long term) make adjustment with 1/2 ton or keep a 3/4 ton around( what i will probably do)

Very nice!!!! Now go out and have some fun. My cousin has been specializing in Subaru’s for years. Not sure when they came out but he worked at an Oldsmobile dealership since the 1970’s and I swear soon after they sent him to school for them. Years later and still today he opened his own shop. (Davidson’s Subaru) He lives 10 miles from me in Pa

cool.!
Yea, been big 3 my whole life, but when i opened my own dealership 10 years ago we decided to go this way.
Its worked out well. They are the bomb in bad, snowy weather.
Now, if my wife would quit selling the trucks i buy. She already sold one Ram i had earmarked for pulling the car, hopefully this one stays around a while. Good trucks are hard to find right now for reasonable money.
