Installing engine

My engine had to go in without the flywheel only because I have a Milodon road race oil pan. With a standard oil pan that’s not an issue.

If you have a standard oil pan the whole assembly- engine, bell housing and transmission can be installed from the top with a regular hoist and an engine tilt. That’s what I did with my 318/904.

The headers are tricky, you can kind of lay them on the inner fenders but that requires moving them around some as the engine goes past them. I just install them after the engine is in. The starter is easiest to install when the headers are in position but not yet bolted on. The Z-bar goes in last, again, installing it with the header in place but not fully bolted to the engine makes it a little easier.
i have a road race pan too so ill follow your method. Thank you for the help. i have found your posts as great help during the process.
