Installing engine

i have a road race pan too so ill follow your method. Thank you for the help. i have found your posts as great help during the process.

Whoops, missed that. If you have a Milodon road race pan and the 73+ K with spool mounts the engine has to go straight down into the bay if you do it from the top. Not even the flywheel can be on the engine. The flywheel, bell, and transmission have to be installed from the bottom.

Your other option is to install everything from the bottom, if you mount the engine to the K frame you can install everything, headers included, from the bottom. If you don’t have a lift that usually means making some lifting arms and raising the front of the car with the hoist and then lowering it over the engine and K. US Cartool makes some tools for this. I made my own, so next time around I’ll be doing it that way.

I have the milodon pan and I don't have trouble getting everything in all at once. One thing you want to do is not have the oil filter on and not have the starter on. I tie my headers up to the shock towers by bungee cord or a piece of baling wire. Then again kind of lightly wiggle jiggle get them in place as the motor comes down. then just get a light bolt in each one not tightening them down to give you easy access to get the starter in the oil filter on. It just gives you a little more wiggle room... My-2...

You have the road race pan? And a spool mount K?

If I recall correctly you have a drag race pan, which is a whole different ball game. Milodon makes a bunch of different pans.
