Freds 73 Scamp restore on a budget

Looks great. I guess it didn't occur to me that you could simply paint the vinyl interior. I might consider that when it's time for a refresh!

No one will set in the back seat so the only thing I have concern about is the front door panels. Time will tell how good it holds up.

I think red with a couple half inch black stripes on each scoop would be cool
Got a new windshield coming soon the one in the scamp is the original and no cracks or chips just pitted some and fading in the lower corners. I hate to throw it away but not gonna keep it. Is it worth saving for someone or just toss it?

I think toss it. Windshield glass is cheap isnt it? What did you pay for your new one?

$135 and I thought that was too much but no one has it around here.
Yea I'll toss it just me thinking someone might need it.

Hey Fred , lookin good. where can you get front glass at ?
I have a auto glass place I get most of my glass from but the scamp windshield I ordered out of the local auto parts store.
How's the old fish doing Al?

doing ok ! just driving it . If I could find for that price I would replace mine. What parts store sells them ?

don't get rid of it before you're sure the one fits right. seen a few threads about replacement glass being thin and not fitting in the seal properly.

Well mine was from Eversons but if you check at your local parts stores you might be able to get one. Auto glass shops would be able to get them. Just remember they come in clear and also tinted with a upper shade band. not much different in price.

Thanks will defiantly do that. All my glass is thick and was wondering how thick the new glass would be.

My Scamp is all back together and officially done.
Well never done always something more I'll be doing in the future but can put all the extra parts in a box and put them away.
Has been less than 2 years since I started on it and am real happy with it and very happy with my Blue Print engine I have a little over 2000 miles on her now and has been trouble free so a big thank you to Johnny Mac and the crew at Blue Print.

Nice job, you stuck with it. 2 year turn around for a complete build, I would say that is "Dang" good.

Dang, Dang Good !

And broke the bank account doing it but what the heck it's only money and had a great time doing it. Thanks for the complement.

Well done Fred! To do a resto to the level you did in that short period of time is amazing. And to paint a plane lol. Well done.
Now I can slow down and clean my shop this winter it's a mess. lol
Thanks Steve....

Don't tempt me Charlie unless you come over and help me. Getting to old to do much more by myself. lol
That would be fun. Two old farts busting their asses and drinking loads of whiskey. Gonna need a k-member and suspension. I have an extra 8.75.
