that will fit a stock ride height 1970 Dart ? And what backspacing would be needed on the 15x7 wheels ? I HAVE 235 15X7 tires and wheels out back

I could barely get 235-60s on my '69. 245-60s would not fit at all. 15x7 with 4 1/2" backspacing... about 4 3/4" would have been better.

depends on rearend and axle bolt pattern, but if it is a 8 3/4 stock 5 on 4 pattern 15x7 4.25BS 255 60 15 will fit but will be close

depends what you call big...a 235 is a big tire (in a 75 series) a 255 60 is much shorter but wider

I purchased a set of 15" X 7" Wheel Vintiques Rallye wheels (with 13 year old P235/70R15) tires on them. I installed them on my car here:

I originally thought I'd replace the tires with the same size tires. Now I'm thinking I want to go with P245/60R15 tires. Here is a comparison between the 2 tires.

I think I'll have plenty of room for the + .3" width.

Thoughts?

255-60/15's on 15x7 Wheel Vintiques with a 4.25" backspace. Stock springs with a extra leaf added. A little tight on the drivers side.

toolmanmike,

That's why I'm leaning toward the 245/60R15 tires. My car does have the Mancini 2800lb super stock springs (courtesy of the previous, previous owner).

pntsstar69,

Thank you for your safety concerns, but I have "parked" the car on those jack stands during the last 16 winters.

what backspacing on the 15x7 wheels , on back i have 4.5 backsapacing would that be good ?
You're in the ballpark. It might be perfect, or might sit inboard a bit too much. But at least that can be fixed with a 1/4" (or so) spacer.
