I'm considering a gen3 swap but as I think about all the changes required, I'm wondering about hitting my HP goal of 550hp. I know about what it will take to get a LA stroker there, but what about a 5.7 or 6.4 Hemi? If you are going to mod one or the other, which one will be less expensive to hit the mark. The 6.4 doesn't have far to go, but it is a bit more expensive to start with. It will have a 6speed manual behind it and fuel injection, which hits the budget pretty hard too.

The 5.7 will be the most cost effective as they are more plentiful and cheaper . The heads flow around 270cfm from what I've read. I'm contemplating the same swap. I have a 2013 5.7. My plan is 4.050 crank, forged rotating assembly, 6.1 intake, ported throttle body, long tube headers, Comp cam.

WAIT.... 6.4 is already there. The rating of 485 is net. How you'd measure a LA on a dyno would be gross.... 550 gross for a 6.4 Scat motor should be easy

My Cuda / Gen3 build project has evolved from the original Mopar Performance 5.7 to a nice 6.1; then to sending the 6.1 back to BES Racing for a complete, blueprinted stroker build with ported heads; custom cam; ported intake manifold and beyond. Then the Hellcat crate engines came on the scene and I couldn't resist. I will make you a great deal on my 6.1 based, 393 stroker engine that will easily meet your performance goal. It was a brand new 6.1 that I sent to BES for the full treatment. This is a REALLY NICE engine; far nicer than any stock 392 that is out there. Please PM me if you are interested. I can text you some pics, the blueprint specs and discuss $$$

That sounds like a beast, but I'm nowhere near the point of being able to commit. Just starting to understand some of the unique features of the modern Hemi. I haven't been paying attention

What I like about the 6.1 is it makes a good, basic hot rod engine. No MDS; no VVT; the cam is simple and basic; good heads; block is beefed up a little more than the 5.7; no complex tuning to deal with (because no MDS / VVT). My original intent was a street / strip car. The E.T. estimates for the car @ 3,200 lbs. is easily in the 10s. However, I'm getting a bit old, with a couple of health issues now (and the car is still not done), so I just plan to cruise the car and show it a bit with the HC engine (for WOW factor) and enjoy my retirement.

Keep this engine in mind. I have big bucks invested in it but will sell at a good price for the right buyer.

I had no idea the 6.1 had no MDS or VVT. Sure would be nice in my '71 Duster. 'Bout to pull the trigger on a T56 Magnum though. Damn!
