Groovy Crankshaft Pulley

People are probably going to get tired of me saying, "I've never seen anything like this before", but it's my first 56 year old car, and I haven't seen this before.

I found the front crankshaft pulley seal to be hard as a rock and the pulley looks like this.

New addition to my paperweight collection? :wtf:

That's a vibration damper...

Yeah, I would look into replacing it with a new one... The grooves are where the seal rides...
