We definitely have some work to do, but that's the whole point, right?
I'm just sorry we had to waste 3 weeks fighting a failed component and not letting Nick learn how to drive the car.
But that's racing I guess!!
I was just reviewing for the ET slip posted. I think you'll get 12's by looking over the build. You are heading in the right direction for sure!

Time to edit. Since my first shake down run I've done a couple mods. Added headers and 3.73 gears.
I really wanted to get some more baseline runs in but it just wasn't happening. Covid, wife's broke foot, track closed, rainouts, Carlisle etc. Planning once again to go Sunday. We'll see!

Made it to the track for a T&T and actually got a run this time.

Here we go!

If you had asked me yesterday if I thought I could hit the index my answer would have been no.

However I'd say now the answer is yes. :)

Whether I'll actually go to a track again this year, IDK.
I know there's at least a 1/10 more in there between better driving and tuning.
The air was pretty good - subjective evaluation there but cars were breaking out of their dial in.

edit. Correction to index see following posts. 12.8

Nice! Looks like you have another deduction for the 3.23's according to the chart?

You're right!
I misread the line. Putting the commas in yes it should be another .3 deduction on the index.
That's probably out of reach on street tires...
So that would make my car's index 12.8 seconds.

Be interesting to take a pass with the shorter and stickier road race tires. No water, no burnout. Just clean them and pull up - same as I do on the street tires.

This was a huge drop in e.t. from the last time at a track.
Mods were 340 manifolds to headers. X-pipe to H pipe. Accurate mufflers to Magnaflow. Same tailpipes.
IMO the X was too large and the mufflers a bit restrictive and were going to get changed even if I had not had headers built.
Tuning steps, which also was done irrespective of headers, was mostly a rework of the timing advance, lower and reduce the secondary idle feed restriction and reduce the secondary HSAB.

The difference is apparent from the 60' onward.

Geez. That was 7 years ago.

What I can do to improve:
Better driving.
Work/test shift points.
Restrict primary PVCR
Experiment with faster secondary opening

Will there be a FABO race in 2021 ????

besides Old Yeller and Drag Truck... LOL

If there is, I hope it includes those of us that use the other pump gas (e85)....:D
I did 2 yrs, Stephen did last years which tracks closed because of COVID. I thought I'd see if Stephen was going to do something this year. Maybe instead of posting ET's, have "regional meets" and actually go head to head and decide car lengths handicaps at the starting line. A guy like yourself would have to give me 20 car lengths and the green light :D :D

Sorry I have been out of pocket so much this year. Have been swamped with work and other responsibilities. Would like to do something but I still will be out of pocket for another couple of weeks.
Will be back around as soon as I slow down.
