8-3/4 axle seals?

-
Thanks guys! I'll see what I can get figured out tomorrow. Returned the seals and they didnt have the right ones in stock. So I get to go back tomorrow and get them! Jeez..
So anyway, if I can't adjust the play out of the axle with the adjuster, do I need to look at new bearings or the center chunk? It's a 741 open differential with 3.23 gears.

Just look at your bearing cones and cups, see if they are pitted or look like something is wrong. I personally do not think there is anything wrong with the differential. If you have a bad axle bearing, you will have to have someone press the old one off and press the new one on. Need an inside finger puller to get the cup out. This is a good time to assess what seals and gaskets you will need.
Or, mentioned else where in this thread, there is the Green conversion, I think that's what they call it. It eliminates the orginal bearing set up with a sealed bearing. My Dart has the Green, but that is all that I know about it. Did not install it.
Someone else can maybe explain it.

Okay guys, I tore into the rearend. I went cheap, didnt replace the bearings. But, I packed the bearings full of grease and replaced the seals. I decided to put it back together and try to adjust the end play (because I really didnt want to pull the diff) well, a little over 2 full turns and the end play is fixed! So, when someone gives you a rearend and says it's good to bolt in and go, you should still go ahead and check out the basics on it. Someone apparently pulled this apart and didnt do this right!
I put the end play at about .008! Nice and tight! Thanks everyone for the help!!!

Did you replace the outer seals and how? Without pulling the bearings? Glad you got it though!

I did not replace those, It required replacing the bearings to do so, because apparently you have to pretty much cut and split the old ones off. My old ones looked okay, if I have to replace bearings I'm just going to go to the green bearings!
