I have noticed some TQ's don't have the bowl vent tube on the left side of the carb like most others do. Does anyone know why and how these carbs are different?

The bowl vent was part of the vapor return system on the later models. That's a pretty early TQ. Probably a 6xxx series.

The carbs without vents had an electric bowl vent that went to the charcoal canister (I think). Means it is a later emissions era carb.

Thx. Any pics of said system?

Yours was no part of "said system" because it is not a late model carburetor. It is an early model. The only bowl vents are the three stacks in the top that vent right into the air cleaner and into the carburetor itself. That is an early 70s carburetor.

That carb isn't mine its a pic Rumble used in another thread.

All my TQ's are late model carbs from Australian Fords except the 2 Mopar Tq's I own. All have the vent tube on the side and googling period correct TQ's for 1972 show the tube as well.

Well, since you posted the pic, that's all we had to go on isn't it?

Didnt later TQ's have the altitude compensator on the front? Real early 71's, "solid fuel metering" ones had angled mixture screws...

My bad. The front threw me because it's so plain. Usually those are the very early TQs.

That’s a truck or van carb. Trucks and vans never had as strict emission standards as cars. Kim

The TQ on my 360 matches that picture, and is correct for my car. So vans and trucks weren’t the only ones with those vents.
