Trying to remove my fusible link now - 73 Dart Sport 340. When you say release the tang, do you mean press it in toward the other side? Don't want to screw up the housing.
Yes. If you look at the male terminal photo, and lay your screwdriver "down on the page" so the blade is pressing left and slightly upwards at the small part of the terminal........the part that is to the right in the photo, you just "spring" it. The rearmost part of the ear is the "latch" that keeps it from going to the rear out of the shell
It often helps if you can push on the wire side as if trying to insert the terminal deeper into the shell, and it should release and the terminal pull right out. Sometimes especially on the large gauge wires, the heat will partially melt the shell and "bind" the terminal
