I am posting some really good slant 6 videos. They use a 318 starter from a Dodge Ram. I am wondering if this works on the early A bodies, as well. This would certainly cost less than buying a special mini starter.

Also, another excellent video:

Yes, those starters will work on early A body's. Many guy's use them instead of buying the more costly mini starters. 65'

Mini starters were in everything from a Dakota to a Cordoba to a Fith Avenue to a LeBaron to a New Yorker, to a Ram truck, on and on and on. You can go to a junk yard, and look at pretty much any Chrysler product and pull a mini starter from it. It will bolt right into your slant. The only thing you will have to do sometimes, is rearrange the terminals. Easy stuff.
I usually get mine for $10-$20 from the junkyard. Or you can go down to the parts house and tell them you need a starter for...lets say an 88 Dakota. :)

If you want a 'for certain' application, 1992 Dodge Dakota V6 or v8 will get you want you want. I like the newer style starters because they are 2:1 gear reduction vs the 3:1 of the early starters. I like the quicker starting.

Is your application for a 904 automatic? I want to make sure I do not have flywheel tooth mismatch problems.

Works on a 1965 and a 1979 slant six/904 combination.
Been there, done that.

Same as Badvert, 64 Dart, 225 67 Engine, 71 904. Clifford headers. Ordered a mini starter for a 2000 Dakota.Don't let the Summit sticker fool ya.It's the same as any factory Mopar mini starter

Me? I've done the mini starter thing, I'm staying with the "old" Mopar starter, the ones the Chevy guys whine and ***** about, you know, that unmistakable mopar trademark sound... Just like the slant 6 that it will be attached to. And that's even considering that I have a couple of good mini starters sitting here, even
