A lots of people will confuse Metro Super Soft for the Soff Seal brand. They are two entirely different brands. It is hard to beat the factory door and roof rail seals. I personally always suggest trying to reuse the original door and roof rail seals whenever possible. The same with the U-Jamb and door end cap seals, the factory pieces are much better than the best of the reproduction pieces.
Just because your buying one brand, does not mean that it may be a product of another company. These manufacturers will buy from each other and repackage the product to have coverage within that product line. Also, the most expensive does not necessary mean it is the best piece unless it is an NOS piece. We also will mix and match components from different manufacturers as believe that one company will provide the best roof rail seals while another manufacturer will offer a better quality door seals. Most vendors will only offer one brand so that they can optimize the product margin. We offer all of the brands and feel that is necessary to best cover the product line.
Depending upon the model year and model, you have the following manufacturers of weatherstripping products. Clesters, Fairchild, Metro Rubber, Precision, PUI, Repops, RSSI, Soff Seal, Steele Rubber and Top Catwhiskers. Then you have the very cheap imported items that typically will not even match up to the OEM items.
Just like everyone has an opinion on who offers the best hamburger, there will be different opinions on who offers the best weatherstripping. Just because Metro works well on a 69 B-Body, does not mean that it works as well on a 69 A-Body. Also, understand that these old cars also have variations and what one person was able to achieve does not mean that the second application will fit any better or worse.
