I was doing a little comparison shopping this week, and noticed they Jeg's had raised their free shipping minimum from $99 to $149. Their discount codes have been down for awhile now, from about 10 percent to 6. Also, you have to order higher amount to even get the 6. I have not ordered from them for a long time, but am less likely to do it now. Summit is still at $99 minimum, plus with the Nevada location, I get most of my parts fairly quick here on the west coast.

Haven't noticed, but blame it on the "virus"
Business's are changing their practice's just to stay afloat, without going under.

I know I have had to consider new parts instead having some of my stuff rebuilt because of shipping. By the time I were to ship something both ways, I was close to new or less.

Don't get me started with Jegs...
If you have a problem with the product of theirs you have to get it sent back to them and they have to process it before you can get a new one sent out to you or just pay for another one..
have a problem with the summit product and you will have an email on your phone saying your new one is been shipped before you even hang up with customer service. And you have 30 days to send the old one back. No charge. And if it's a small item most of the time they just tell you to keep it "and" they'll send you another one....
And if by any chance Jegs is cheaper they'll price match and beat them by a dollar....

Summit is the vendor I use, 2 days from Nevada to North Idaho. Always.
Anyone remember the Midwest catalog in the 70's early 80's. I wonder what happened to them. I ordered everything from them.

I use Jegs a bit. Mostly Competition Products as they are local and can get anything not listed in their catalog.

I used to buy from Summit when I ran long haul and would stop at their stores to buy.

.99 Only is now selling stuff for $2.99....the horror! Stuff is going up.
PAW was my go to source, there were So. Cal . Long gone.....re-sleeved to STD 340 blocks were available! (Probably 318's wet sleeved)

Jeg's may back off on that increase if sales fall...

Just getting inventory is a hassle. I waited 12 weeks for custom pistons because the forgings were not available. Same with a cam core... CMC was shut down due to covid fears.

I've always had good luck with summit. Fast shipping. Don't know about right now with the post office parking all their trucks. But I'll be ordering some stuff in a few days so I'll see.

I had recently ordered parts from a supplier, and it was $200 and change for shipping. I think the package was 50 lbs,but a large box. I dunno if you need it youre going to pay it, but the whole deal was 800 bucks for something that should be 4 hundred IMo. It snot the old days any more. Has anyone noticed that Mopars in general are expensive whereas they used to be cheap (back in the 80's I bought a few 100-200 dollar Mopars).

I like Speedway and usually give them first crack at things, but Summit has better selection and I buy more from them. I find Jegs hard to shop because their item listings lack description.

One thing I've learned is run stuff through Advance Auto too, you'll be surprised what you can order through them and you can easily get discounts and free shipping.

I posted this comment previously regarding shipping....

Amazon, Ebay?, and other large mega sellers are getting their shipping for close to nothing.

We are subsidizing their shipping thru higher costs.

We, yes you and me pay higher prices to subsidize others...

Imagine if Amazon(Bezos) buys USPS, All Amazon shipping costs will be borne by us

Not good..

I put a little more thought into this, and it leads me to think back when both Jeg's and Summit were both one store operations. At that time shipping times and cost were close and it was who had the parts in stock over the other. When Summit started to open more retail stores, they started to have shipping time advantage, and maybe a shipping cost advantage if they could ship from a closer location to the customer. I do remember Jeg's tried to combat this with 2 day shipping on everything, but I imagine that was not be cost effective in the long run. I have never had a problem with Jeg's over the years, and if they happen to have something I need when no one else does, I would still order from them.

I try to order from Jeg's, Speedway, and other places to prevent Summit from getting out of hand.

Summit also pissed me off when they opened a store in Dallas, which they bragged was awesome and would get me parts quicker. I've noticed no increase in how fast they arrived, but of course an added 8.25% sales tax. Now, it no longer matters as the states conspired to screw us all, anyway, but for several years it did matter.

As Danny Boy noted, the little guy is subsidizing the big guys. I have stopped selling many items as the shipping is ridiculous. $42 to ship a small box. But I can order a rubber bed mat from Amazon and pay less for it, including shipping to my door than I could ship it to you...for just the shipping.

I was on the phone with Jegs. They said they not been this busy in 20 years. They cannot keep.
