Ethan, my youngest son (28) bought his first A body a 1974 Duster. He looked at a Demon earlier and then a turbo car and passed on both. He was never into racing or older cars growing up and now with me in Pa and him in Colorado I’m about useless to him. I feel he kinda rushed buying this one but he wanted to get working on something before house buying. He runs an autobody shop so when they dropped the price down to 1500.00 he offered 1200.00 earlier this week and picked it up today. The slant six is out of the car but came with it as did the rest of the driveline. I told him to hold off spending on interior parts and 360 till the body is shaping up. That way if he lost interest he could probably recover what he has invested. I’m going to get him to sign up on abodiesonly so we can hopefully find some needed parts and advice. Better pictures coming soon.

Great advice about the interior and nice price

If it's been a Colorado car all of it's life, hopefully it's not eaten up with rust. I looks like he scored on it & maybe he'll pick up his dad's habit. LOL

He needs to register here and meet up with the Denver area members. Good group of guys, that can help him out.

Iirc North Dakota used sand as well, lots of better cars out of ND than neighboring MN who uses corrosive salt.

I remember growing up in Pittsburgh in the 70's and 80's and them dumping salt all over the place. The salt back then didn't work below 20 degrees, yet they would dump it below 0???

My son's in Denver as well and works at an automotive shop. I gave him the 76 Power Wagon but can't get him to work on it... He loves it when it's running but if it has a small carburetor issue or something it's going to sit there until I come visit...

Now it’s even worse. They use sodium chloride or something that could probably eat a tank. You can see the white lines on the roads before upcoming storms. My Township relies on ash but I live in the country

With a restored car, salt really isn’t an issue today. Salted roads definitely eat up a cars metal if driving on wet roads that have salt on them. But, people don’t drive restored cars in these conditions today. Salted roads aren’t a threat until they become wet. Guys don’t bring their vintage cars out until long after the salt has been washed away. The biggest problem with cars in the northeast is moisture in the air or on the roads period. If any car is kept dry, you won’t have these severe rust issues. I’m anal enough with this point. That I don’t use water to clean my vintage cars. All dry cleaning.,

Denver. While at his last shop they did a test n tune at Mile High drag strip and he took his daily driver. He really enjoyed it. He had to row the gears in this oneView attachment 1715580791

Well my Son Ethan and his buddy were stripping down his Dart at the body shop today and took a break to run up to Harbor Freight for a sawz-all. A car ran a stop sign and smashed into my sons car. My son and his buddy are sore and at the hospital but after the creep gave Ethan his insurance info he took off. Cops found the car a few blocks down the road and tracked down the DRUNK driver. 4 DUI’s and driving without a license. At least everyone is still alive.
