As the title states, does this look like an A500? It's listed locally, guy says it came out of an 89 Dakota with a 3.9 v6.

I'm looking for a core A500 to build and swap in my car, this one is cheap and close but I'm not 100% sure.

Appreciate any help you all can provide.

I dont see a seperate plug on the left side for wiring for a lockup torque converter. This trans is a non O/D trans. If your looking for a O/D this ain't it. Heres a pic of a 42RH O/D out of a 1992 dakota V6. Note second plug location with wires attached to it.

Ok thanks, that pic helps a lot. I tried googling images but there's so much conflicting information. Appreciate the help.

This is a picture of the A500 I had built for my Duster. They are longer because of the O/D section between the main body and tail shaft housing. I'm pretty sure those pics you posted are a 904. @moparmat2000 posted better pics than mine.

NO. Lacking the OD section as shown in MoparMat 2000 and 89on35s photos show. Just a plain old 904.

Run, don't walk from this ad. Either the seller doesn't know what the transmission really is, or he's hoping the buyer doesn't know what he's buying.

Get a good close up of the front of the input shaft. It looks like it is a lockup transmission.

That's the 904 variant used in the early Dakotas. I don't remember the code number for it. It's an electronic lockup. Has a contact at the back of the case above the pan rail. With it disconnected it will work like a regular non-lockup. But it's not the overdrive you are looking for.

A999.
