I was trying to change the automatic transmission filter in the 70 Dart, with the slant 6. I ran into a problem;the filter that the surrounding parts stores all are trying to sell me does not match the filter in the car. The filter kit that Autozone, O'Reilly want to sell me the filter only has 1 hole and is much bigger. The filter in the car smaller and it has 2 holes.
The part number Autozone sold me is a Duralast FT127. It had the correct pan gasket (14 bolt).

What is the part number of the correct filter?
Thank you,
Matt

The filter should have 3 screws holding it to the valve body. They make some filters that are bigger but still have 3 holes and are interchangeable.
Wix number is 58707

Go to the Rock Auto website and look at the filters they have, select the one you want and get the part number.

This is the filter you need.
You can find it on eBay from Pat Blais. ( torqueflite patty) and it can be found from Fatsco in NJ. Use the search function in this forum. I know slantsixdan has posted about the original 2 hole filters. He gives a list of replacements from a few manufacturers.

Thank you all.
I should have been more clear. I have the 3 small screw holes and 2 holes for the fluid to move through.
The pic Doug S posted is what I have.
Thank you all again. I'm still new to the Mopar world and I am so glad I have this forum for real answers. And not relying on the kid at Autozone who didn't know they made a Dart in 1970!

85658 is advance auto number $6.39 walk in price

If u have the 2 hole filter either someone put the wrong filter in or changed the tranny to an old 1. Does it have a bolt on driveshaft at the tranny? Post the numbers off the pan rail on the driver side of the trans. I suspect they were selling u the right filter. U just have the wrong one in ur trans. Kim
