How many CURRENT owners of real '74 360 Duster 4 speed cars on here?

KZ1972, you should consider starting a separate thread on your car since it’s a great story.

I agree. Thank you for posting it here so I can add it to the list, but it really does deserve it’s own thread.

I have to say that the hood treatment is something new to me, so I bet the number of total Dusters with it was low to begin with, and when you factor in the low production of 360/4 speed cars, I think TF360 is correct that it is very, very low.

KZ1972, any idea if your Dad spec’ed the car like this, or was it something the dealership ordered and he bought off the showroom floor?

Such a cool story and car.
I just asked my mom that very question. She didn't know. We suspect it was already in the show room. I doubt that he special ordered it.
I am so grateful for this thread. I just got the car and it needs some serious TLC on the mechanical side. I will have lots of questions.

Thanks I will do up a separate thread once I figure out how to do that. I will send a link on this one once I got it up.

My dad owns one of these cars, he is retired now and going to restore it soon. It’s been parked for 35+ years now is my guess, excited to see him live out his dream of driving his car again. Dad has some wild stories from back in the 70’s. Located in Prince George BC

Very cool!!

Love to hear some of those stories.

Can you get a shot of the fender tag? Edit - just looked at the pictures again and guessing not until he cleans the hood off.

Great that he kept it all those years. The fact it’s been off the road for 35 years is why it’s not a rust bucket. Cars don’t last long in the interior of B.C. I’m glad my grandmother didn’t drive her a Scamp during the interior BC winters as there would be nothing left of it now.

That’s a mid 70’s BC plate; hang it on the wall once it’s insured again.

I can get a shot this weekend and get the old man telling some more stories

I noticed in the pictures it has the curved shifter. It does anyone know if this was a standard shifter for that year? Would the Bucket seat cars come with a different shifter? I see it has the original ball on the shifter as well. Very cool to see. Also did the shifters come with different shifter handles? Mine has a pistol grip. Not sure if that is original.

Pretty sure that is the stock handle. Not sure about the ball, but the handle looks right.

Same handle, seat options didn’t matter.

Pretty sure for A-Bodies, only one shifter handle. In a B-Body, the handle could be difference between console and non-console, etc.

A-Bodies never came from the factory with a Pistol Grip shifter. I think they should have, along with an Air Grabber hood, but they didn’t.

Found this. You are right the curved shifter would be on both bucket and beanch seat cars. Looks like the ball was also standard.

I would love to see the fender with the Duster tag. I am curious to know if it has the 360 badge under it. Mine doesn't have in and I dont ever remember it being on the car. However I noticed in the ads for the 360 car it had it under the duster logo. I wonder if the Canadian cars didn't have the 360 logo?

Yes the Canadian cars had them. I have a 74 4 gear car and a 75 auto car and both have them. Dart Sports also had the 360 on them. Not very good pics. This my 75. Kim

hmm... Thanks for the post. I wonder why mine doesn't have the 360 under the duster symbol. Any have a 360 car that did come with the 360 logo under the duster logo?

I almost bought one off a car lot in the early 80s that was a 360 column automatic L code '74 Duster that was in good shape and mostly all original. (42,000 miles)
It was Gold with black stripes and a gold/brown interior.
The car drove great and had lots of power.
It had the 360 emblems under the Duster emblem on the front fenders exactly like the ones in the pic that Kim posted.
They wanted $1400 for it and I offered them a grand and they didn't take it, and wouldn't budge on the price.
If it was a 4 speed in the same condition, I would have paid their price for it!
They eventually sold the car for $1100, and I never saw it since.
I was in there every couple of days talking to the salesmen about it, it sat there for about 6 months before selling.
Oh well........

Sorry I meant to say does anyone have a 360 car that didn't come with the 360 emblem under the fender duster logo? Just curious as to why mine doesn't.

Did the 360 emblem have pins on it? If not, and just a sticker, perhaps it was removed?

What day of the week was your car produced (off of fender tag or the VIN sticker on the door)? Perhaps it was built on a Friday and never got the holes drilled for the 360 emblem?
