Dyno Vs.Drag Strip Testing

I agree the dyno is a tool. Just as, say,an Air/Fuel ratio gauge is a tool. Just one example. Not exactly the same but......Some tune purely by plug readings (also a form of tool: your eyes) and taking the car to the track, or using an a/f gauge and hitting the track. Or some combination of both. So if the theoretical ideal a/f ratios are “X” etc, do your shoot for those numbers and let the time slips fall where they may? Same with plug color, and thorough inspection. That’s not the end of it, you get to ideal quicker for sure. I just posted that blurb because of their successes to that point with no dyno use, their obvious intelligence and abilities on full display etc. It’s impressive. I’ll never hit a dyno though, I prefer building, tuning, tweaking, testing it all myself and seeing what I myself can do. I dont care about the horsepower/torque numbers aspect of a dyno, I use seat of pants and the time slip as my tools but as they say “It’s All Good”
