Rebuilt Edelbrock, yea or nay

I've done all that stuff to to my car for speed AC suspension engine and even automatics.. I've rebuilt plenty of Edelbrock / Carter style carburetors and I did have one, just one that I could not get to run correctly...
Damnedest carburetor I ever seen.. the guy I got it from just could not get it to run correctly whatsoever. we brought to my house and I clean the heck out of it but it was still very filthy. He took it back home and it ran better but it still wouldn't idle correctly... so he gave it to me and I gave it the Royal treatment. I bought a good rebuild kit for it and I even took all the little pieces and submerge them in that carburetor cleaner goo... The carburetor and every last piece came out shining like brand new.. I proceeded to rebuild it and put everything exactly to factory spec... put it on my car and couldn't never get the @&#$ thing to idle!...
Some lucky guy got it at the swap meet a couple of years ago for next to nothing.....
Some carbs are just done for, if the throttle shafts are wore.
I had a guy in FL bush and rebuild my WO carb for my Willys, the sob now a few years later will not idle right, I am pretty sure the throttle shaft went back to crap.
Try to find any parts for a 70+ year old vehicle, most parts are worse than what you already have.
