I haven’t had a Mopar on the road since the 80’s.

However, I’ve read on here many times that they get called Nova’s, Chevelle’s, etc.

The other day my neighbor stopped in my garage while I was working on my Duster. He said, “Oh man, is that a Nova”?

I guess GM did some good marketing. I mean, non-car people go right there.
What’s up with that?

I've got that too. I just smile and tell them "no", then don't tell them what it is, when they ask, I ask them to guess.

I waiting for "the predecessor of the GTO?"

Yea, so now when I am on any other site and I see a chebbie, I post .... "nice nova!"

Well, if we want,,, we can post nice nova in Threads on here to see who has read this Thread lolll

Yea. Got tired of people asking or guessing what type of car it was. One of the reasons why I got this plate. Lol
Takes the guessing out of it.

I might just get Nova emblems and be done with it. Then I could name it "BossaNova", and say it has a Ford engine.
:)

I like Novas.
A friend of mine has a real kick *** one that does low 9s in the quarter.
It's a '74 hatchback, a really good looking car IMHO...........

Actually I like them, I have owned 4 chevys in my life, two of them were Nova's.
I had one the traffic Judge told me 12 points on your licence, the next ticket you are walking.
I literally had the same cop pull me over twice in the same week, you know things are not going well when the officer sad, did I just not give you a ticket.
Those old 300 hp 350's were fun, in a young mans hands.

I like watching the blood run out of their face, when I tell them 'IT'S A MOPAR'..

No Problem with Nova’s (well, the 73-74’s were ugly with those big bumpers), but why do people call Mopar’s, “Nova”?

When I was in the service a guy in my unit had a yellow Nova that he'd fixed up a bit. It was a good looking car, but on a number of occasions it was sitting in the company parking lot next to my Duster. Seeing them side by side I honestly felt my Duster had better lines.

And the Duster outsold the Nova and most other vehicles. They sold 280,000 Dusters in 74 alone!

Back in the 90's I drove a few dusters and used to get the Nova thing. Now I daily drive a dart sport and everyone thinks its a duster. Never had it called a nova yet. However, confusion sets in when I tell them its a dart. Seems nobody is aware of the dart sports.

When I had my 65 Valiant...drivin it everyday back and forth to work. Almost once a month I'd get somebody sayin "Nice nova" or "I had a Nova just like that" or some such. I never said anything. I cannot see how in HELL anybody could confuse them. Ray Charles could tell the difference.

I cloned my duster from a 74 dart sport. I agree, people don’t know what a dart sport is.
In the 80s, I had a 72 demon. Everybody called that a duster.
The big three created the problem. All of the different manufacturers had different divisions with similar cars.

Just imagine the poor Pontiac, Buick Olds guys. All of them mada a Nova lookalike. I've kinda always wanted to do a Buick Apollo with a Buick 430.

Did that with the monza/vega too.

I had a olds omega with an actual olds 350/350 in it. Threw it away when the turbo 350 died. Woulda been fun with a 455.
(Darn near forgot I ever owned the thing!)

I pulled up to late model Dart last year and the kid said "nice car what is it ?" and I said "it's a Dart just like yours, wanna race!"
He said "No, you got the Real Dart".
(no kidding)

Yeah, but the Monza and Vega looked nothing alike. The Monza, Skyhawk, Starfire and Sunbird all looked alike.
